I think its fantastic, that right here in Pauatahanui, that we can be leading the way, with renewable energy. Sure is a whole lot better than living in a smogy polluted environment ( due to thermal generators ), or have the risks with atomic power.. And the site is fantastic.. Let them put up several hundred mills i say..

And stop scaring people with comments about Low frequency radiation.. I'd love to see some 'credible' research on this.. Its scaremongry..

Well you're not wrong with a couple of hundred turbines going up. They wanted to put them up on our farm and I know of other farmers being appoached.
10 years ago they put up 46 small turbines in the Manawatu - today there close to 180 and and I understand that number again has just passed the resource consent stage. It's no wonder the mayor of Palmerston North lost her seat today.
As for noise that can come in many forms. If it gets through the resource consent stage it most certainly be put on the LIM reports of property owners who face the wind farm, taking note that the houses at the Pauatahanui end of Whitby will be as close as 4 Km away. Research done by Dr.Phipps of Massey Uni.on the residents of Ashurst showed that 8o% of those responding saying they felt the wind farm was visually intrusive and 52% heard noise from the turbines while 42 households reported that turbine noise sometimes or frequently interrupted their sleep. Have no fear about not beng able to see the one at Pauatahanui, private land owners and the regional council have plans afoot for a wind farm at Plimmerton to Pukerua bay, Belmont to Porirua and the hills at Titahi Bay.The wind developers on their own website describe this area as the Saudi Arabia of wind so we have an interesting future. Good bye to all our iconic hills. It will be the fastest way to turn a first class suburb into a 3rd class one.
