Any notes from the liaison group? Interesting that RES want all this behind closed doors. Aren't we still waiting for answers to some public questions? Come on RES, play the game fairly.

RES have had the questions for almost a month. Chris Drayton has indicated that RES are working through the list of questions and will respond soon. I asked again today for an update.

RES have no intention to answer them. No surprises!

Twonk.. Seems your Wrong.. RES did answer them.. And I'm sure that they took some time to answer them carefully, so people can't misinterupt them..

The real issue is that peopel around here are worryed about their property values.. Lets cut to the real issues, and stop all this 'NOISE' about stuff thats just that 'NOISE'..

In fact, i suspect theres more noise at a puketiro.org meeting than any windmill will ever make.

What is wrong with being concerned about our property values?

I agree that people have concerns about property values and have nothing against that - it is a very valid concern.
But people are also genuinely concerned about noise and visual impacts.
It is fine to visit other turbines (as we have recently) but if it is 24/7 that is another matter.
One just has to read papers, such as that presented by Jane & Julian Davis at the Lyons 2nd International Wind Turbine Noise meeting (and I am sure that they wouldn't have international meetings about something that doesn't exist or doesn't concern people.

Nothign wrong with being concerned about property prices.. But lets get real, that is the real issue.. Even some of the loudest people in the puketiro.org movement have said that they don't really care about the mills, but if it impacts their property prices then that is an issue.

All i ask is that the we deal with real issues.

Health is my main concern regarding the turbines. And not all of us, myself included, are members of the puketiro group. I intend to be a loud voice on this subject. But one that is well informed.

Does anyone out here really think that RES really gives a damn about our health/wellbeing/noise concerns/visual impact concerns....??
In the real world they are here to make millions of $ to send offshore. Check out any wind farm proposal anywhere in the world to find out that they are simply going through the motions. In fact check out their Australian projects.
Consultation, NOT negotiation or community involvement, are the name of the game.

I agree 3MW, RES have an objective and it's not our wellbeing. Not that is should be, as they are in it for the money. GWRC and PCC however should be concerned about our wellbeing and time will tell if they are looking after our best interests or have been 'persuaded' by the energy companies. I think I know the answer.

It is rather presumptuous of RES to assume that a liaison group has been set up. Nobody knows what its terms of reference are or its ultimate aim, or who might join it. We do know that large developing companies set these groups up to "show" they are "consulting" with the community. Chris Drayton said at the first liaison meeting that negotiation was too strong a word to use for placement of wind generators or anything else to do with the so called wind farm. It was their (RES) plan and they would continue to pursue it.
Consult in the New Zealand Dictionary means 1. 'to seek information or advice from' and 2. confer.
Confer from the same source is 1. grant and 2. hold a conference or discussion.

It obviously does not mean have a debate with and reach a conclusion.

The liason group is simply to allow them to put a tick in the box, to show they've followed due process and to slap us down when we say they never consulted with us. From what I hear, no useful information was provided by RES at the last meeting and no sign that this will change.

The only useful information was that access is very difficult because Battlehill Farm is not available and other landowners were not answering question. Also that RES acknowledged that Moonshine Valley Residents would be the most affected.
