Hi Twonk, I think you misunderstood my reply. If you are a landowner who wants to have turbines on your land and it impacts on other landowners in the vicinity in a negative way with noise and flicker and massive visual affects, and lowers your property value then compensation should be claimable from the turbine hosting landowner as well as the developing company. Might put private landowners off don't you think?

I agree with you. Those who provide land for turbines and earn an income from them should be required to compensate those who suffer as a result. Maybe, rather than simply allowing land to be used, land owners should apply to have them installed, as though they were their own. Almost rent a turbine and supply power to the 'farm'. I don't know if there is enough history of wind farm applications in this country to see what does and doesn't work, but at present, land owners, as I understand, simply give their permission, earn and substantial income and clear off, leaving the mess to the rest of us.

Perhaps we should begin with this one at Puketiro and threaten to sue the landowners for loss of our way of life.

That's a superb idea.
